Description

Classic Canadian Butter Tarts are a sweet, gooey delight nestled in a flaky crust, making them the ultimate comfort dessert for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Eggs
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Salt
  • Pecans or Raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Gradually add ice water until the dough forms. Roll out and cut into circles for muffin tins.
  4. Bake the shells for about 10 minutes until lightly golden. Set aside.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt for the filling.
  6. Optionally fold in pecans or raisins.
  7. Fill each tart shell three-quarters full with the filling and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until set.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
