  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Incorporate milk and vanilla into the creamed mixture until smooth.
  6. Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until combined.
  7. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. For frosting, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually mix in powdered sugar and add food coloring as desired.
