  • 1 lb ribeye or flank steak
  • 2 cups cooked short-grain white rice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Kimchi (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: Whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, brown sugar, and black pepper in a bowl.
  2. Marinate the Steak: Coat the steak in the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Cook the Rice: Rinse and cook short-grain rice according to package instructions.
  4. Sear the Steak: Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and sear each side of the steak for 3-4 minutes until charred.
  5. Slice & Assemble: Let the steak rest before slicing thinly against the grain. In bowls, layer rice with steak, cucumbers, green onions, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Add kimchi if desired.
