Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- ½ cup melted butter
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pistachios
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup honey (plus extra for drizzling)
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add to the yeast mixture, stirring until combined.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- For the filling, mix chopped nuts with cinnamon and honey in a medium bowl.
- Roll out risen dough into a rectangle, spread melted butter over it, then evenly sprinkle nut mixture. Roll tightly into a log.
- Cut the log into about 12 equal pieces and arrange them vertically in a greased baking dish. Allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) while buns rise one last time. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with additional honey immediately after baking.
