  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts or pistachios
  • 1/4 cup honey (for drizzling)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Gradually mix in flour and salt. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth (about 8 minutes).
  3. Place dough in an oiled bowl; cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. While the dough rises, mix chopped nuts with cinnamon and melted butter in a bowl.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (1/4 inch thick). Spread the nut mixture evenly over the surface and roll tightly into a log.
  6. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and arrange them in a greased baking dish. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before drizzling with warm honey.
