- 6 cups Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples (peeled and sliced)
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Make the Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
- Prepare Filling: Toss sliced apples with both sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and salt.
- Roll Out Dough: Divide chilled dough in half, roll out one half to fit your pie pan.
- Assemble: Pour apple filling into the bottom crust. Roll out second dough half for the top crust; cut slits for steam vents or create a lattice design.
