Instructions

  1. Rinse the dried pinto beans under cold water and soak them overnight in plenty of water.
  2. In a large pot over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion and bell peppers until tender (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add the ground beef to the pot and cook until browned (7-10 minutes).
  4. Stir in the minced garlic, chili powder, and cumin; cook for an additional minute.
  5. Mix in the BBQ sauce, drained beans, and enough water or broth to cover everything by an inch.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer uncovered for at least an hour or until beans are tender (stir occasionally).
