Instructions
Prepare the Batter
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
Stir in the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
Mix in the beaten egg and vanilla extract.
In another bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Fold in the chopped walnuts if using.
Bake the Bread
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding chocolate chips or cinnamon to the batter.
