Ingredients

For the Chili

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 can kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with juices
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste

For the Hot Dogs

  • 4 pieces hot dog sausages beef or turkey
  • 4 pieces hot dog buns soft
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or cheese of choice

Instructions

Prepare the Chili

  • In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Stir in ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add kidney beans, diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cook the Hot Dogs

  • Grill or cook hot dogs on a stovetop until heated through and slightly charred.
  • Warm the hot dog buns on the grill or in the oven for a few minutes.

Assemble the Chili Cheese Dogs

  • Place each hot dog in a bun, top generously with chili, and sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to customize the toppings with jalapeños, sour cream, or diced onions.
