Ingredients

Beans and Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 2 cans baked beans 15 oz each
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 1 cup bell pepper chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced

Seasoning

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp mustard yellow or Dijon
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper to taste

Instructions

Cooking the Meat

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet and sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.

Combining Ingredients

  • Stir in the baked beans, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix well and bring to a simmer.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and slightly caramelized on top.

Notes

Serve hot with cornbread or over rice for a complete meal.
